Eye Movement Desensitization & reprocessing

Learn what Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is about and how it can help you release the grip of past painful memories and experiences

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of therapy that helps memories get integrated into our long term memory system. By helping this process we reduce trauma, depression, anxiety and many other psychological symptoms.

How Does EMDR work?

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, which means using our right and left brains, EMDR works similar to the REM (rapid eye movement) cycle when we sleep. When we are sleeping our brain is working hard to make sense of everything that happened to us during the day. It takes memories and decides if they are needed in short term memory for easy recall or put them in long term memory as reference.

How can EMDR help?

If you are experiencing feelings of sadness and worry, EMDR can help reduce the pain you are experiencing. If you have a hard time letting go of the past, EMDR can untangle that constant nagging of guilt and shame that you keep experiencing.

Some people don’t realize that past experiences have a direct impact on the feelings of depression and anxiety that you are experiencing today. With the process of EMDR, you can discover if there are memories that are still holding you back from feeling at ease.

My Experience

I have worked with individuals on a one-to-one basis as well as in group settings. I ran groups in a psychiatric hospital, out-patient settings, and most currently in a private practice setting.

I’m passionate about healing our souls, don’t let the past trap you. Let me show you how.
