My Approach to Therapy

My main approach to therapy is through the lens of Interpersonal Neurobiology and I am a fond student of the work of Dr. Daniel Siegel MD. Mindsight and Mindfulness are an integral part of the work I do and several of my therapy sessions will begin or end with a mindfulness practice, where we will get to practice taking a non-judgmental stance and breathing.

I am also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills working with adolescents, families, and adults. DBT has so much relevance with interpersonal neurobiology and the importance of understanding our brain and working with our brain’s chemistry. Skills building with the importance of validation and mindfulness is an important part of the work we do as we integrate and make sense of our lives.

The connection between our mind, body and soul, I believe is key to our mental well-being. Through the training with Somatic Experiencing and my interest in Yoga as a mindfulness practice, I will help bring awareness to the many layers of your body’s experiences while working with you. Don’t be surprised if we do some tree poses together! Attention to our bodies will bring us more to live within our bodies and fully appreciate the capabilities of our bodies.

Types of people I work with

I see a adults, adolescents and families. I am available for individual therapy, couples therapy, parent coaching and family therapy. I enjoy working with tweens and adolescents including the families that are so involved in helping teens as they grow through their growing pains.
